Pygmy Shrews - The Egyptian & Lord Got Busted 7" (2009)

The Egyptian is the first full length LP by Brooklyn's Pygmy Shrews. It's one of the more impressive debut albums I've heard in a long time and a personal favorites of 2009 for me. A link for this album was posted by the band's bass player Tia in our message board. This would be a guilt free download so please spread it around because a lot more people should be aware of this band. I've also included a single they put out last year as well which includes a great cover of Pussy Galore's Kill Yourself. So if you include my previous post of their Big Time EP this should be their entire discography so far. Unless there's more you'd like to share with us, Tia?

  1. You might find this interesting.

We refer to it as "Analog Music from a Lost World" -- previously unreleased post-punk experimental rock from 1981, unlike anything else recorded before or after.

"It's amazing!" -- Gibraltar Encyclopedia of Progressive Rock

“Here’s something lovely and odd from the Free Music Archive: the Karen Cooper Complex.” -- No Rock and Roll

"...some hefty grooves, and plenty of 'holy shit" moments'. It's a spacious but highly rewarding listen, and I wouldn't be surprised if some label makes an effort to press this on vinyl in the near future." --

Jason Sigal, Managing Director at WFMU said:
"This is amazing stuff and we would be honored to feature it in wfmu's curated portal on the free music archive. I'm very sorry for our slow response, we have a lot of stuff to wade through to find gems like these."

  2. I has listened the first disc, the true is that I like more the second, I don't know there's something in the second that attract me more.
