Crunt was a one-off side project of Stu Spasm (Lubricated Goat), Kat Bjelland (Babes In Toyland) and Russell Simins (Blues Explosion!). Crunt came about around the time that Stu and Kat got married. The band and the marriage didn't last very long but it resulted in one great record. I guess it resembles Lubricated Goat the most because Stu sings the majority of the songs, although Kat and Russell each sing a song themselves. I personally think it's tighter and more focused than Lubricated Goat. Another great release from the sorely missed Trance Syndicate label.
My old band Lummox (not the later Dayglo Abortions spin off) played with BiT and Lubricated Goat in '91. The Goat, minus Stu, were forced to stay at my place while the Babe's plus Stu stayed at our drummers considerably more posh pad. My memories are The Goat were all really, really nice. Kat and Lori were fairly mean, but their then new bassist Michelle was really sweet. Both bands were great. The club owner in Portland, Me tried to stiff The Goat until Stu threatened to kill him!

I think Kat and Stu were full blown junkies at that point. That's what I've heard anyways.
ReplyDeleteDunno if Kat was into heroin, but Stu surely was heavily involved into smack. Anyway, this is one of my favourite albums from the fucking good ole 90's..Stephen_________
