Vaz - The Lie That Matches The Furniture (2005)

Vaz features Paul Erickson and Jeff Mooridian of Hammerhead.  Are they as good as Hammerhead?  Absolutely not.  But it's as close as we're going to get to it.  Actually it's not bad if you just put Into The Vortex out of your mind and look at it without the comparisons completely.

  1. hold the phone, i think you have to file Vaz under "seperate but equal" (if i may employ a racial legislation comparison).
hammerhead are a great band, basically a hardcore band though, and vaz aren't trying to retread that style, they veer off into a more arty/rock/noise direction. i think both bands kill in different ways.

    hail hammerhead!
    hail vaz!
    hail cod-music!

  2. Don't get me wrong, I like Vaz. I wouldn't have posted it if I didn't. I am just such a huge Hammerhead fan and it's hard not to compare the two as much as I try.

  3. though i do love hammerhead, I think I've been listening to Vaz waaay more. Except for this album that you posted, I consider it the weakest one of their albums.

    I prefer "Demonstrations in Micronesia"

  4. I agree that "Demonstrations" is their best LP. Actually I think their first single "Hey One Cell" is the best thing they've put out. I just hadn't seen "The Lie..." posted anywhere out there and it's a decent album.
